A Place of Silence
Origins Retreat Centre is situated in the beautiful Cradle of Humankind. This tranquil property provides a wonderful setting for rest, relaxation and spiritual renewal.
Our mission is to support and foster an active prayer life, deeper conversion and relationship with our Lord Jesus Christ.
Why go on a retreat
Luke 5:16 – But Jesus often withdrew to lonely places and prayed. (NIV)
To go on a retreat is to withdraw to a lonely place to pray.
Throughout the centuries monasteries have been, and still are, open to guests who want to withdraw from the hustle and bustle of everyday life in order to spend time in silence and prayer. Guests are welcome to join the prayer services in the monastery and may also receive spiritual guidance from the monks or nuns.
A retreat centre, in a way, provides the same kind of space and facilities, without being a monastery. Groups with a theme and a retreat master can be requested, or individuals may visit on their own and request guidance from the resident retreat master. At Origins, individuals may join the prayer services in Poustinia (the chapel). Mosaïek Church conducts weekend retreats for groups, as well as silent retreats for individuals, with accompanying spiritual guidance. Other churches or groups are also welcome.
Spaces
Origins is a place of silence, a sacred space for prayer to deepen our relationship with God. Origins offers a diverse range of buildings, spaces and facilities for various types of retreats.
The facility is suitable for day retreats, mid-week and weekend retreats.
